Today marked the end of the most fulfilling, fun, and rewarding week long “Miles Keeney Intensive” with the kids of @studioballetarts thank you guys so much for having me and asking me to do this 🤗 *Long Post Alert* most of you see my videos/posts from my advanced adult-geared NYC dance classes on Instagram and youtube and see these working beautiful and talented professional dancers slaying choreo, but that is just one (although very important and special) part of this whole life of mine. Working with kids has always been one of my biggest passions and natural skills. When Allison (the studio owner) after seeing my videos emailed to ask if I did intensives, I said yes without hesitation because I thought it would be a great opportunity to challenge myself creatively and academically. My unintentjonal decision to double major of developmental psych and dance in college pays off in more ways than I can imagine. I was able to curate a program designed for the full week to give the kids exposure in multiple genres, commercial dance training, media training, dance for camera, exercises in self confidence and just what it means to be a genuine and kind person/artist. I get brought in often to so many places for workshops master classes etc but when the opportunity presented itself to run my own week long intensive, I jumped at the chance! It was a unique opportunity to have the same group of kids—just me and them— in the studio from 9-3 for five days straight. I was hard on them and set very high standards but they were so receptive, kind, respectful and willing to grow and be their best selves. I can’t wait to see where they go and grateful to have been a part of their journey. It showed me that after many more years of continued industry experience as both a Dancer, Teacher, and Choreographer... that I may one day create my own holistic dance education program. Something I can scaffold from beginner to professional levels, and travel with to bring students together all across the country and world. 💕 #MilesKeeneyChoreography #Dancer #Mentor #Educator #Teacher #LoveWhatYouDo
